I researched FM transmitters for my original iPhone on Amazon and found a lot of them to have very unfavorable reviews. So I looked for the one with the best reviews and it was the one from GSI. It worked easily and flawlessly right out of the box. The sound quality is good especially for fm quality. It does sound a little heavy on the bass for some reason, but that can be adjusted through your stereo equalizer or your iPhone equalizer. The docking mount is sturdy and charges your iPhone while also functioning as an fm transmitter. And it was only $14 while qualifying for Amazon free shipping. I would highly recommend this product.

Sony WMFS497 Sports Walkman Review

Sony WMFS497 Sports Walkman
Average Reviews:

Don't be fooled by the word "Sports" in the name. This is an unwieldy item not suitable for use during running or walking. I was particularly disappointed because my last Sony Sports model was small, lightwieght, and survived my less than gentle handling for 5 years. Too bad they broke the mold.

The WM-FS497 Sports Walkman from Sony has a heavy-duty aluminum die-castdesign to protect the Walkman from extreme conditions. It's water-resistant, andhas a built-in clock/stopwatch so you can time yourself during sportsactivities.
The digital synthesized AM/FM stereo tuner allows up to 20 preset stations: 15FM and 5 AM. It has a local/DX switch to either gather the strongest signalsonly, or bring in weaker signals more clearly.
The cassette player has auto reverse, auto shutoff, and an anti-roll mechanismto prevent shocks when you're moving. The mega bass has a "groove sound"position, for an even heavier sound. The Walkman is also metal tape compatible, and has an auto volume-limiting system to prevent hearing damage. Kaito KA105 Portable radio Review

Kaito KA105 Portable radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a tiny digital radio, including presets, at the 50-dollar price point. The size of a small bar of soap, the KA105 delivers crisp sound; it locks on stations; its AM reception is equal to its big brothers the Kaito 1101, 1102, and 1103.
But don't get this radio for shortwave. And don't get this radio for music. The speaker is too small to separate musical instrumentation. Talk radio is fine and that's what I'd limit this radio to. For a little more, you might be happier with the Kaito 1101. The latter sits with good stability on its stand whereas the 105 sits on a wobbly plastic slat that has a tendency to fall off.
I've had mine in the bathroom for over a year now and it pulls in the distant NPR Pasadena 89.3 with ease. For its limited use, it's quite effective. But I wouldn't buy it as an "everyday" radio.
If you need a little travel radio and you listen to talk, the KA 105 will be fine. But if you want musical fidelity, I suggest you upgrade to a Tivoli Audio Songbook, also a digital radio, for 160 dollars. If you want fidelity and don't mind analog tuning (with digital readout), you might look at the 99-dollar Grundig S350.

Degen DE15 Ultra-thin AM/FM Shortwave DSP Radio Review

Degen DE15 Ultra-thin AM/FM Shortwave DSP Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Smallest pocket FM/AM/SW/FML DSP radio packed with all you need for a radio:
Digital tuning PLL, non-volatile memories, ATS (auto scan and store stations), digital volume control, clock/sleep/alarm functions, mute function, backlighting when any button pressed for night time user. Another nice feature is the USB batteries recharge function that you can plug into a computer and/or a wall adapter (3 rechargeble AAA batteries provided). Easy to use and master all controls of the radio.
Sensitivity and selectivity are excellent due to the DSP chip, I have tried to auto scan stations on FM band, and this unit scanned all available stations including the weakest ones. AM DXing listening is good too, I can hear 860 AM from Toronto, Canada (broadcasting in French), 570 AM from New York, 670 AM from Chicago - which are 400-500 miles away from where I live. SW is ok, you can't expect too much on this little unit with a short 10" non-swivel antenna, but you can still get lots of strong stations.
The only draw back are the audio fidelity (it's not an iPod!) for music listening (even though FM stereo separation is good) and the digital noise at low volume.
If you interest in latest digital radio with DSP, Talk/news on FM/AM or travelling with a sleep/alarm features, this unit is the right one to get at an affordable price. With a ~$50.00 you might be able to get a Sangean DT-210/400W for music listening with DBB but without an alarm clock, a SW band, non-volatile memories and built-in auto recharge batteries. You decide.

Orb Music Player (MP-1) Review

Orb Music Player (MP-1)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice device that uses your wireless network to stream music. There are a number of devices that can to do this (small computer, Sonos, etc), but this is by far the cheapest. They also provide an app for iphone and android that lets you control what music it plays.
It works pretty well - the software will index your itunes library for you. I don't think they support music indexers other than iTunes, but I'm stuck with it either way as I use OS X. You can also listen to music from a few different places: youtube, sirius (if you have it) and pandora(!!). The pandora functionality is, by far, the feature that gets the most use for me.
I hooked an old pair of speakers up to this in my kitchen and I use it to listen to Pandora / itunes playlists all the time.
It would definitely get 5 stars if they let my play music on my phone. Right now, you can only play music that's on your computer and your computer has to be on the whole time you're playing music. If I can tell it what to play from my phone, why can't I play the music on my phone? More services also wouldn't hurt (I have an internet radio station that requires authentication - it didn't work >_

iLuv i277BLK iPod Alarm Clock Audio System with Bluepin (Black) Review

iLuv i277BLK iPod Alarm Clock Audio System with Bluepin (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is really a cool product. I was able to pair with my Mobile(HTC TyTN II), Headphone/Headset (Lubix) very easily. It got paired in the first try. The instructions are pretty clear in the manual. Music is good for the small size, Bass is less, naturally. Can't compare with Bose. The music from my Phone through the BluePin on this is really good. The Blupin Receiver was able to receive music till 15-20 feet clearly, after that it breaks. I was able to FF/RR/Stop, Adjust volume from my phone.
As a Bluetooth transmitter, it works great. I connected my TV Audio output to 277 using the line-in and change the mode to AUX with BluePin in TX mode and used a Lubix Bluetooth Head Phone/Set. The transmission was awesome.
Tested with iPod/iPhone and this works as stated. The snooze button in the front is good one. Even we can switch off the display using this. Radio works as stated. Weight less. Looks great. Has a remote but not senstive.
Actually I was searching for a Bluetooth Transmitter for my TV. The Sony and Motorola were quoted @ Amazon for $60. I thought it's pretty costly for the simple Bluetooth Transmitter of class 1. So searched the net and found this for same price. So now I have a Transmitter with multiple functionality.
So this is an All in one model.
Pros
1) Receiver for my Phone to listen music
2) Wireless Transmitter to my TV, so I can watch the TV without disturbing anybody using my Bluetooth head phone
3) Listening to iPod/Radio in Wireless mode with full control.
If you read the manual twice , it easy to understand everything.
Cons
1) The cons, I would say is that it's not Bluetooth2(has 300Ft of range) only Bluetooth1 (30 Ft range)
2) No Equalizer/Pre-set for music.
3) Remote can be made better.
===============================
Update - Nov 26th 2010
After 1 year of use, it is still working good. Bluetooth works fine. Audio quality is good. Like this product

Sony ICF-CD853V AM/FM/TV/Weather Clock Radio/CD Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Very nice clock. Although sound is a little thin (but what do you expect from a clock radio), it's very clean and detailed. CD transport works very well, plays all my CD-Rs and RWs without a hitch. Pros: Big display (easy to read), digital tuner, nice button layout, very easy to set the alarms, brightness control (although manual.) Cons: cannot set alarms separately for weekdays/weekends, no gentle wake, very brights not-dimmable LEDs that shine brigther that the LCD screen itself, need a longer FM antenna for better reception.
I'm returning it to get the next model in line (ICF-CD863V), which has automatic dimmer control, gentle wake, and slightly better sound.

I got this thinking I could use my remote in an adjacent room. No luck. The RF signal didn't make it more than 25 ft from the receiver. Maybe it is my house, but I expected a much greater range. The unit is difficult to set-up and even once it is, the benefits aren't that great. I like the remote, but I would pass on this component of the system.

Dynamo & Solar Radio with Light Review

Dynamo and Solar Radio with Light
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This unit is sub-par. There is one good feature, but there are many shortcomings. You'd be better served to find a model that is a little higher end.
The good features:
The flashlight, while not very bright, has the advantage of using multiple lenses. The standard lens is the clear lens, and the easily changeable lens can be switched out with either a red lens or an amber lens. The colored lenses can be used with its other good feature, which is the "flash" (think of a slow strobe) setting. If you were stranded by a roadside, for example, you could switch the clear lens for the amber lens and set the unit to flash and place it on top of your car. You would be easily visible.
The shortcomings:
The radio is pathetic. While FM reception is fairly clear, AM reception is really bad. It seems to depend on how close the radio station is. Which isn't right. I mean, I live 180 miles from WLS AM radio (890 AM in Chicago, IL) which people can easily get on their car radio for several hundred miles from the station. Why can my little radio in this unit only faintly pick it up? A mystery to me. The other bad thing about the radio is the antenna. It does not offer a 360-degree swivel. Basically, it is "tucked" into the back side of the unit (with no locking mechanism, by the way) and the antenna folds up or down. There is no back-to-front movement allowed. So, you have to fold the antenna up or down and then re-position the radio itself for front-to-back adjustments of the antenna. Very cheesy.
Also, the packaging this unit comes in boasts, "high fidelity loudspeaker." Ahem....that's a pretty tough claim to make for a unit made in China with a little 1.5" speaker. Except for Bose, nobody can get any kind of fidelity from a 1.5" speaker. And, if this were Bose technology you could expect to pay a couple hundred dollars for this unit. The speaker provides, at best, the same fidelity I got from the little pocket transistor radio I listened to in 1965.
I paid $22 for mine from eBay. I would not buy one of these unless you could get it for, say, under $10.

Oregon Scientific WR196T All Hazard Radio with AM/FM Radio & S.A.M.E Technology Review

Oregon Scientific WR196T All Hazard Radio with AM/FM Radio and S.A.M.E Technology
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought three of this particular model of NOAA radios in November 2000. Within a week period in July 2001, all three LCDs went blank, the memory failed, and the radio went haywire. When I contacted the company about this, I received no reply. If there was trouble with a specific batch, it should have been replaced. If this is their normal quality, I would stay away.

Oregon Scientific's WR-196T radio receives all seven NOAA Weather Radio channels and can be programmed to display only warnings and alerts that occur in your local area. The radio continuously receives broadcasts and sounds the radio speaker whenever an alert comes through so you can be sure to be on top of the latest weather news. It folds easily for compact placement on any desktop.
The WR-196T uses Specific Area Messaging Encoding (SAME) technology, giving you the option of screening out unwanted broadcasts and receiving alerts only for the geographical areas you program (up to six counties of your choice). It also receives National Weather Service broadcasts and alerts vital to survival in the aftermath of earthquakes, storms, floods, explosions, radiation emergencies, toxic chemical spills, and other life-threatening disasters.
The LCD's backlit display assures the best readability. This radio also doubles as a digital alarm clock with snooze feature and AM/FM radio with 10 presets. The WR-196T runs on three AA batteries (not included) or on an included AC power adapter.

Tivoli Audio SongBook AM / FM Alarm Clock Travel Radio, Silver Review

Tivoli Audio SongBook AM / FM Alarm Clock Travel Radio, Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With iPod auxiliary, premium speaker, and above average AM/FM reception, the Songbook is an attractive radio. I've had mine for 3 years. It locks on stations well. The speaker is not overwhelming in volume or bass but produces a warm sound. The speaker is not as rich as Tivoli's brother, the Model One, but the Songbook, perhaps because of its telescopic antenna, gets far better FM reception. One of the advantages of the silver color is that it is aluminum, not rubber like the other colors and the rubber radios hold dirt, which is not easy to clean.
If the Songbook is too pricey for you, you can get similar speaker sound and superior AM/FM reception from the similarly sized Sangean PR-D7 (3-inch mono speaker) or the Sangean PR-D5 (2.5-inch dual stereo speakers).

My only compliant is the limited Christian song lists. I have Sirius at home on Dish Network, and the Christian rock stations have up to date music with great variety. On Sirius you can choose Hair Bands, Heavy Metal, etc.

As mentioned in my other satellite radio reviews, I have both Sirius and XM and I like Sirius much more than the XM. I like the music channels on Sirius more and Sirius has much more exclusive programming. The Sportster receiver and boombox is great for satellite radio on the move. Great for bringing it outdoors to a park or the beach, whatever. The only thing that I wish this receiver had is the ability to record. The inability to record and the fact that the Sirius Orbiter boombox that I had sounded a little better when playing crisp sounding highs. Overall a great boombox, just make sure that you buy some 4500mAh nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries with it!

Eton Sound 100 iPod Dock, White Review

Eton Sound 100 iPod Dock, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Sound 100 iPod Dock is the latest in Eton's product family. As a stand-alone radio this device is average. With the iPod dock this unit is a cut above and one you must consider.
They do sell this device without the iPod dock, and it ranges from being $30 to $50 less than this model. I don't believe it's worth getting this unit without the iPod dock.
Eton Sound 100 AM/FM Radio, Silver
There are many iPod radios and alarm clocks on the market which may be able to compete against the Sound 100 iPod on price. The iHome and iLive models come to mind.
iHome iH6 Clock Radio for iPod (White)
iHome iH5 Clock Radio for iPod (Black)
iLive ICR6307DT iPod Docking System with Digital Tune AM/FM Stereo Dual Alarm Clock Radio with Remote Control in White
The competition does not come close on engineering. The remote allows you to completely control your iPod! That means menu control and navigation in addition to the standard FF, RW, PLAY, STOP, and PAUSE funcitons. This is so simple, yet few devices have this ability. The Line-in and auxiliary jacks can connect other MP3 players (Creative, Zune) sans the menu control.
The speaker is monaural, but optimized to prevent distortion. At the highest volume the sound gets tinny but doesn't hiss. If you like modern design, the Eton is one of the best looking. It is sleek, COMPACT and light.
But there are shortcomings. The internal AM antenna is below average. The device lets you use an external one, and most users will need to.
The features could be better. There are only 10 programmable station presets. The RDS broadcast data is only 8 characters at a time. The screen is hard to read; you have to be right in front of it. There are no external RCA, speaker or subwoofer jacks, only line out. There is no EQ, treble or bass control and no way to adjust the backlight.
This radio came out in January 2007, well into the HD radio era. Only 10 presets? Why no speaker or subwoofer jacks? Why didn't they add Short Wave or HD capability?
If you only need an alarm clock radio, there are better options. This unit is above average on FM but below average on AM. Competing products by Sangean, BA and Sony have higher ratings at this price.
Sangean WR-2 Digital AM/FM Tabletop Radio, Black
Sangean WR-2 Digital AM/FM Tabletop Radio, White
Boston Acoustics Receptor Clock Radio (Platinum)
Sony XDR-S3HD HD Radio
If you are VERY picky about sound and want a nice compact iPod radio alarm clock, this unit is worth a look. Enjoy!
Pros
+ Remote control functions are very well integrated with the iPod!
+ Very nice iPod serial interface for digital sound quality
+ Line-in and auxiliary jacks for MP3 players and other devices
+ Good speaker sound with surprising bass
+ Shielding protects the radio from interference
+ Battery backup possible for power outages
+ Nice alarm clock function
+ Nice looking design in a small and LIGHT form factor
Cons
- No equalizer; no treble or bass control
- Requires external antenae for good radio reception
- No RCA jacks or stereo connections for external speakers
- No Subwoofer connector - only standard stereo line out
- RDS only displays 8 characters at a time
- Backlight is not adjustable; you must be close to it to read it

Do most iPod speaker systems look a little too modern (read: stale) for your decor? Turn to the Eton Sound 100 system, which pays tribute to the retro glamour of radios past with swooping, curved lines and a stylish front control panel. The radio is designed expressly for iPods, with an external docking station that holds and charges all iPods with 30-pin dock connectors, including the iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod photo, iPod video, iPod nano 1G and 2G, and iPod mini. Simply plop your iPod into the dock and you can enjoy all your favorite tunes and playlists within seconds--no additional connections required.
Eton is recognized internationally for the quality of its radios, which is why the company added a high-sensitivity digital Phased-Locked-Loop (PLL) AM/FM tuner to the Sound 100. The advanced circuitry not only searches instinctively for the strongest station, but also locks in the frequency once it finds the signal to guarantee superior clarity. As a result, the radio's reception is crystal clear whether you're listening to the ballgame, catching up on the news, or kicking back to some classic jazz. To make tuning quicker and easier, the radio also includes five AM and five FM station presets.
Audio-wise, the Sound 100 is equipped with a 3-inch, full-range, front-firing speaker that produces distortion-free, room-filling sound with a wide range of frequencies (80 Hz to 20 kHz). The 16-character, two-line LCD display, meanwhile, offers a viewing area of 2.4 by 0.98 inches (W x H), with a gentle blue backlight that won't keep you awake during the midnight hours. And despite the display's relatively small size, it still shows quite a bit of data, including the time, selected station, alarm status, sleep status, band, and preset information.
Unlike many iPod speaker systems, the Sound 100 also handily replaces your bedside clock radio, with alarm, sleep, and snooze controls. Among the options are 12- and 24-hour formats, an alarm that wakes to either the radio or a buzzer, a programmable sleep timer (between 15 and 90 minutes), and a 5-minute snooze duration. And even though the Sound 100 is designed for iPods, it also includes a 3.5 mm auxiliary input for connecting a separate MP3 player or personal CD player, along with a 3.5 mm auxiliary line out.
Additional features include an encoder volume control, a headphone jack for private listening, a battery backup function (requires two AA batteries), a remote control, a 360-degree pigtail FM antenna, a built-in external loop AM antenna, and rubber feet on the bottom to prevent scratching and movement. The Eton Sound 100 measures 8.27 by 4.53 by 5.1 inches (W x H x D), weighs 2.82 pounds, and carries a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box Eton Sound 100 iPod system, external iPod docking station, pigtail FM antenna, infrared remote control, pigtail FM antenna, AC adapter, user's manual.

If you can accept the oddities of the unit: A) 24-hour clock only, B) less than sterling AM-FM radio, C) odd antenna connections, D) quaint and outmoded LED display, you will find yourself possessing a fine, compact speaker system that produces an excellent level of sound and power you wouldn't expect at this price point. It might also function as a decent, inexpensive sound bar for a TV. And I agree with others: it's too large and heavy to think of as a bedside clock radio.
