(More customer reviews)I was really excited to receive this item, so I was really disappointed in how disappointing this docking station was.
First off, the sound quality is unimpressive. If you are listening at your desk while you work or playing some tunes while you fall asleep, it is fine. Where it fails is when you turn the volume up. You can hear the speaker struggle. This fails as a way to provide background music on the deck while you BBQ or even as a way to pump your jams through the bedroom as you psych yourself up for a night out with friends. And while the rotating stand is crazy cool if you have a iPad and want something that will let you move from portrait to landscape, how much are you really going to enjoy a movie when all you can think about is the disappointing speaker quality?
This station has interchangeable holders depending on what Apple product you are going to use it with. The holders are sturdy, as they need to be to assure the safety of your phone if you are going to often utilize the swivel feature. The problem is, the tightly fitting holders mean that you can't have a case of any kind on your phone when you put it on the dock. Having to take your case off every time you dock your phone gets annoying quick, and while I understand the need to hold the phone securely, I wish there were an option to dock your phone in the case, even if it meant you could not use the swivel feature.
The Dock Plus app is very intuitive and easy to use. Setting alarms is very easy as is controlling your music. Just beware, the default is loud. Being able to change the brightness of the alarm clock independent of changing the actual brightness of your phone is a nice feature. The blue light that lets you know the machine is on is quite bright. I will probably end up coving it with electrical tape or something.
While the rotating feature if really cool, the ultimate reason you want a docking station is for sound quality. Unfortunately, this docking station fails in that, the most important specification.
