(More customer reviews)This unit is awesome. I wasn't interested in the dockable tuners, because I primarily listen to radio at home.
The DT-7000S is awesome. You can scroll through the stations, scroll through the categories, and punch in specific channel numbers on the keypad.
It's got a dimmable blue display that displays a lot of information, including the time.
I coupled this with a Terk SIR6 home antenna, which gets a strong signal -- perfect reception -- even though I mounted the antenna in the attic. I didn't even need to go outside!
I read the reviews of the "software glitch" on scrolling past 100 channels, but I have never encountered that. With the ability to punch in channel numbers directly, it's not even an issue.
I'm completely happy with this tuner, and it looks awesome sitting atop my component system.

The sleek Kenwood DT-7000S brings Sirius satellite radio to your home and connects directly to your stereo system--whether that be a receiver, a shelf system, or a pair of powered speakers. The DT-7000S features a 4-line blue-on-black dot matrix display with dimming control, up to 80 station presets, and a 24-song memory. Note that the DT-7000S requires a Sirius home antenna in order to receive satellite radio signals.
You can store a total of 80 presets in 4 banks (20 presets each), as well as store song title and artist name for 24 songs for easy recall later. Myine Abbee Commercial Free Music Radio with Music Lock Portable Player Review

(More customer reviews)I have really struggled with this review over the last week. I really like the concept of the Myine Abbee. I think it's innovative and it doesn't try to replace the whole digital quality, buying music and downloading it onto an MP3 player or computer scene. Picture a housewife who listens to her favorite FM radio station in the kitchen for a couple of hours each day. Picture an older person who isn't necessarily computer or MP3 player savvy who likes to listen to the radio.
Here are some of the other Pros I recorded in my notes on the Abbee:
-Unit (Abbee) isn't too large, about the size of a full-size box of Kleenex. This can easily live on your kitchen counter, or on a night stand.
-Has a sort of a simple, appealing modern look to it
-Included "Music Lock" device allows you to take the music with you if you want. The system does a really good job of eliminating background fuzz that is typical of radio listening. I was surprised at how good music sounded on the Music Lock.
-Sound played out of the Abbee base is quite good for its size. It has decent base. Music played via the Aux port on the back (eg. MP3 player) isn't quite as loud, but sounds even clearer.
-When recording songs from stations that pollute the last 5 seconds of the song with song name/artist information, the Abbee handles it by quickly fading the volume out so that you don't hear it, or hear very little of it. Pretty amazing.
-Abbee has a mini-USB port on the back titled "Update", paving the way for future firmware upgrades, etc.
-Abbee can serve as the speakers for your MP3 player via the Aux port on the back.
-Abbee can also output live radio content or recorded content to your stereo system via the white (L) / red (R) RCA Out ports on the back. Concievably you could capture the outputted sound on your PC and burn it to CD's or create MP3s if you have the right hardware.
Now for the Cons, which are the reason for 3 stars instead of either 4 or 5:
-Most buttons serve multiple functions, which can make it confusing to use. For example, the "Favorite" button can be pressed to save a song from being overwritten, but if you press and hold the "Favorite" button it deletes the song. Hmmmmm
-There is no indicator that tells if a song has been saved with the Favorite button or not. If you save a song with the Favorite button but do not sync the song to the "Music Lock" portable device, it will still get overwritten.
-After my initial 30 hour recording session in which I thought 98 songs were recorded, I switched to "Play" mode. Abbee never initiated a Sync with the portable player known as the "Music Lock". I listened to several songs and then changed mode to "clock mode" to set the time. Then I changed back to "Play" mode and it said "EMPTY". All the songs appeared to be gone. I had to pull the "Music Lock" device out, and then the songs reappeared on the Abbee. When I put the "Music Lock" back in its holster, it finally started the sync process. It took about 10 minutes to sync the device. I was able to successfully switch out of the random playback mode, because I wanted to start at song #1 and go all of the way to #98 to see what was recorded. Well I was surprised to find they were numbered #65 to #98, with NO 1-64 available apparently. I pulled the "Music Lock" device out of its holster, and now the Abbee shows "EMPTY" again. This is actually by design...when you sync the Music Lock with the Abbee it actually removes the songs from the Abbee. I don't find this functionality particularly desireable.
-Abbee may be the only device in the world where the portable player has more capacity than the base unit. When the "Music Lock" is unplugged from the Abbee base unit, the Abbee will only play live radio or any songs recorded since the "Music Lock" has been unplugged. If you have 300 songs on the Music Lock, you can't get to them unless the Music Lock is plugged into the Abbee. In this day of cheap memory I don't know why the Abbee base unit can't hold more than 100 songs.
-A couple of the "Songs" recorded by Abbee were entire commercials.
-When Abbee is powered on, it defaults to "Live" music from the radio with volume set to zero, and will not let you switch to "Play" mode until you "WAIT" about 30 seconds. This is true even if you were last listening to recorded content in "Play" mode.
-I executed a Master Reset in order to test the functionality, and then I let Abbee learn for another 24 hours WITHOUT the Music Lock device plugged in, and now it looks like it has 64 songs. Nope, they are numbered 30-64. So I change over to live mode to start recording more songs. After another 5 hours I check on it and now they are numbered 51-85. Songs 51-64 are from my previous list, songs 65-85 are new, and my songs 30-50 are gone. Now I realize the Abbee can only hold roughly 33 or 34 songs and then it starts deleting the oldest songs. The User Guide states "Over 100 Songs", but that's not what I'm seeing.
-When I plug in the Music Lock device it syncs the music, which is now removed off the Abbee base unit. If I pull the Music Lock back out, I expect the Abbee base to record another 33-34 songs so I can sync it later, but it no longer records ANY music without the Music Lock plugged in. It always shows "EMPTY". So now if someone has the Music Lock player with them, the Abbee base unit is literally only a radio.
-The highest song total I have reached now after 4 days is a range of songs between 52-202. No more songs are being added. If I delete a song, then it will add a new one (eg. 203 etc.) I don't know what happened to the 500 song limit...
-The User Guide offers a URL if you need help: [...], but the only help that is available is a PDF version of the User Guide. So what you have is a "User Guide" that refers you to itself if you need additional help. ;-)
-I submitted an email to [...] on 3/1/2010 with some of my experiences and some questions, and have had no response. There is also a support phone support number which I elected not to call. (UPDATE: Email was received on 3/4 but was in my spam folder)
-One time while the Music Lock was syncing I changed the recorded song I was listening to and it got stuck in a 1 second loop for about 10 seconds.
-Another time I switched from Live Mode to Play Mode and the Abbee would allow me to scroll through the recorded songs, but it would NOT show the song number until I powered off and then on the Abbee base.
Some "Nice to Haves" that did not effect my rating of the Abbee:
-Being able to set an alarm and use it as a clock radio would be a nice feature to add.
-A small remote control would be a nice option too.
In summary, this is a really excellent and innovative idea. I applaud its inventor for inventing it, and for naming it after his wife. Behind every good man there is a great woman.
This product is so close to being really amazing. I think the USB plug in the back marked "Update" is key if Myine plans to update the firmware on the Abbee.
UPDATE: You will have a much better experience with Abbee if you initially turn on the Abbee base without the Music Lock plugged in. Set your time. Choose a station and lock it on a preset. After about 5 minutes of listening to Live mode, switch to Play mode (it will show EMPTY) and plug in the Music Lock. This will enable you to record much more than 34 songs and will insure the numbering starts at 1. In fact I now have songs recorded that are numbered 1 thru 200 and growing, so this is looking much better...

Lexon Tykho Rubber Radio Blue Review

I did not expect great sound quality from a small rubber radio, but it sounds much worst than i thought, especially regarding the price of the device. The volume controls don't work properly, not responding one third of the time. Battery access is poorly designed, requiring removal of 3 tiny screws using two different screwdrivers. I picked this one for its looks, but you will find many better radios for much cheaper.

Tangent Quattro WiFi Internet Radio Review

I can listen to any of the online radio stations I like anywhere in the house, not just near the computer, and the speakers** on the radio are far superior to my puter speakers. You need high speed internet and a wireless transmitter to make this work, incidentally. It IS a little expensive, but there's no subscription--the purchase price is all there is.
**Note: Someone has informed me that the radio has only ONE speaker. Sorry if I misled anyone.

She's still going strong a year later and that's after coming home to find it on the kitchen floor TWICE (cats). My heart nearly stopped, but when I turned it on, all was well. So add resilience to its other attributes. Also I should mention that my high-speed internet connection is really very slow for high speed and still I have no problem with the streaming.
Sure it was expensive, but I don't have real radio where I live (just country AND western plus some Spanish language) so it's this or the computer or Sirius if I want NPR and other stuff. Sirius was ok but it has a yearly fee and I was tied to that antenna--this radio, though it is plug-in and not battery-powered, can move from room to room. And once you buy it, that's it.

Bose Wave Radio - Clock radio - graphite gray Review

(More customer reviews)This is the original, the first of its kind. Then came the copies. This radio from Bose may look pricey to you but once you know all you can do with this it is very useful and you don't mind the price anymore and think your money was spent well. The sound of this radio is VERY clear, you get every little detail in music, and it is lifelike and spacious too. I have seen this rado used in big stores, they just put one radio on one corner and the other on the farther opposite one, and the sound is amazing. Deep bass, clear sound, just like if there were a lot of speakers placed around the store. The FM Antenna is integrated into the electric cord and it can pick a lot more stations than any other conventional system, as much stations as a car. It's very sad to see people criticize this system instead of appreciate it. It has enough bass and it is always deep, except in RARE cases of songs that have too much bass and it doesn't go down deep enough to hit those notes. Just make sure to place the radio close to a wall, especially right in a corner, to boost bass by a lot! This radio makes FM sound like CDs and CDs sound even better than they should. You even have one RCA Input to connect something like your computer or DVD Player and enjoy great crystal clear bassy sound for movies and MP3s in your computer or games too. For movies you don't feel the surround effects as if they were behind you but they sound very spacious and clear, away from you, getting the feeling of almost surround sound, as long as you are close to the radio. Also if the radio is right in front of you the bass is way deeper, so if you will use it in your computer there's no problem since you'll have it in your desk in front of you. It is built from quality, and the speakers dont distort even at loud volumes. The only thing is if you go over 95 in volume the bass isn't as strong, but you'll never have to go over 75 or 80 for sure. This system is great even outdoors or at parties too. It's great to wake up to GREAT sound and it's very nice how the alarm starts quietly and gets louder slowly and also how the display dims depending on how much light there's in your room. This is a product you have to place well and use well, and you will enjoy it for years. I suggest the Bose Wave Radio Series 1 over a Bose Companion 3 and Bose Mediamates for your computer, mainly for even better sound quality then them and more surround soundish effects. The Wave Radio/CD Series 2 or Bose Wave Music System (new name for Wave Radio/CD2) just came out, and it wasn't over 3 months since I bought my Wave Radio for $350, so I was able to exchange it for the latest one for $500 with CD, even deeper bass, even more clear sound, louder volumes, same shape and size but it looks A LOT more cooler! It kills the first series by a lot in bass(it feels like a big subwoofer and all songs get bass no matter what), adds extra volume, sound is even more lifelike and has better imaging, especially for movies. It's worth the extra $150! Bose is the best in sound. Those who don't like Bose either bash them for the sake of it, bash them because of not doing thorough testing with their products, bash them by believing what "audiophiles" say in reviews, bash them with opinions more than facts and probably haven't even heard the Bose Product they are bashing. Get the Wave radio or even better the New Wave Music System and you will be happy forever with your system! It will surely become the main system in your house.(I have on my computer Bose Mediamates with a Klipsch sub, for my movies a Bose Freestyle with an RCA 650 watt receiver, for portability Bose headphones and CD Player and since I bought the Wave radio and then the Wave Music System, I've been using it more than the others, by the way it is great to wake up to a CD, thats another feature you get with the new Radio!) Bose is about making lifelike sound. If youd rather have fake sound with way too much treble, or fake bass that goes way past the levels of real bass(I am talking about insane deafning bass) then dont call that kind of sound lifelike please! Many radios may get close to the original Bose Wave Radio and Wave Radio/CD but none beat the newest Bose Wave Music system.

(More customer reviews)I've been waiting for this type product for a long time and I am glad I bought it. However, I would not recommend it for everyone just yet. It has a coolness factor which I paid a premium. I refuse to pay for XM because there is too much free music out there. It works seamlessly with the Reciva website but expect some of the stations to not work properly. That's fine because there is so much to choose from. The sound quality is only ok but most stations are sub cd quality anyway. Battery life is maybe 3 hours depending on the loudness. WiFi distance is not very good. FM is not great either. Navigating the menus is far from intuitive. You really need to be tech savvy to understand this radio. The podcasts I listen to cut off about halfway. The remote sucks. Despite the cons, I think future firmware updates will continue to improve the technology. Unless you have some disposable income or have to have the latest, greatest, you might want to wait until revision 2.
*** UPDATE ***
I need to add a star to my review. The beta firmware (as of Jan 09) has cured my some of my gripes. It now scrolls metadata for some stations and plays podcasts properly. It will play Clear Channel stations also. Reciva has made the menus easier to navigate. You still need to be a techie to enjoy this radio.

(More customer reviews)Frankly nobody seems to care that most alarm clocks are complete eyesores. Teac comes out with this wonderful effort, including a backup rechargeable battery. However there is one major problem that seems to be cropping up everywhere nowadays:
The LED display! This thing barely has any contrast, so you really can't see it well at night. Also, even at the dim setting, it is like a flashlight. Instead of using a nice LED display with simple brightness settings, you get this indistinct display that lights up your whole room.
Teac, please put an LED display on this thing. The styling is great. The button placement is fine. As is, unless you wear a night mask, I really can't recommend this clock radio.

(More customer reviews)I've been waiting for this gem for months and it's been worth the wait. Compare this wifi radio to ones costing $300+. One of the nice features is its ability to connect with Slacker radio which, if you have a premium account lets you listen to customized stations that you set up. Another nice feature is the auto-setting clock and the weather report at the touch of a button. If you have a USB flash drive or other USB device (FAT 12/16/32) you can playback MP3,WMA and Real audio files as well. I hooked up my Polk stereo via the headphone jack and switched on Slacker...it really sounds good over my home WiFi connection. This radio also has standard AM\FM. This is really quite a remarkable unit for the price.

Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio (Sirius Satellite Radio / AM / FM ) Review

(More customer reviews)I love Sirius in my car for its niche channels like jazz, Folk Town and Bluegrass so I bought the Tivoli table model. On the positive side the sound is GREAT -- right up there with Bose, but the design leaves some things to be desired. 1. It won't work without external antennas for AM, FM or Sirius. 2. It does not have an internal power supply. 3. To get stereo or CD you have to buy additional boxes. 4. You really do have to have a clear view of the sky where the satelite is located. Trees and buildings block the signal. 5. You might as well order the third party signal booster and antenna extension because it only comes with a 30 foot cable to the antenna which will probably not get it to your roof. 6. There is not an easy way to feed additional stereo equipment to take advantage of a home sound system. 7. There is no way to cut off the big blue info screen which is really BIG and Blue. When installed this thing has as many wires and connections as a lobbyist in Washington. But if you can put up with the clunky design it is wonderful.

(More customer reviews)This radio is an excellent product. It set up in a couple of minutes and has proven to be reliable and very easy to use. My single complaint is the headset and stereo jacks on the device. There is an AM-like static present when I plug in headphones or connect in my stereo. The noise on the headphones is 'tolerable', but the stereo connection was terrible. I e-mailed Grace Digital Radio Technical support with my problem. They replied and stated that I shouldn't be having static on the audio output (I figured that out all by myself). They then suggested that I try alternative radio stations (AM and FM) and advise if I had a similar issue. I explained that the radio was not an AM/FM radio but internet and that all types of stations on the internet exhibited the same problem. They never replied back to me. I've attempted a couple of times to get a response from them to no avail. In one attempt, I suggested that, perhaps I should return the radio and obtain one from another manufacturer. Still no reply. In a word, customer support for this product - stinks.

Very, very simple to operate, and took literally 15 minutes to set up (and I employ both 128 bit WEP and MAC filtering). In addition to the myriad stations available, I've linked my Internet Radio to my Pandora account; this allows the unit to play music directly from my Pandora radio stations. I can even create new Pandora radio stations directly from the Grace IR (although it is quicker and easier to do this from a computer). The sound quality from the onboard speakers is excellent. I have my unit connected to my home stereo system via the Grace IR's Headphone output into L-R inputs on my receiver. This is an excellent, excellent buy! I am considering purchasing a second unit for my bedroom. I highly recommend this unit.

I have had the E10 for about two weeks and am very pleased with it thus far. FM reception is very good -- it matches my Sangean ATS 818 easily. AM reception is also good (altough reception is compromised at work- but this is true of any radio). Shortwave is not quite to the same level as my Sangean but it still very good especially for the price and size. Sound is surprisingly good for the size of the speaker.
My biggest complaint with the radio is the small size of the buttons and controls. Even as small as the radio is, it is clear that they could have designed it with larger and more well spaced buttons.
The E10 comes with rechargeable NIMH batteries, the only drawback is that they only charge when the radio is OFF. The radio will work with standard AA batteries as well. An AC adaptor/charger is included. It also comes with ear buds (For FM Stereo) and a windup shortwave antenna. A carrying case is included (I use mine everyday).
If you like memory presets, you will love this radio. It has 500! (so far I have used only about 25 of them!).

Sangean WFR-1 WIFI Internet Radio Review

(More customer reviews)An internet radio opens up an almost overwhelming number of broadcast streams and for someone like me, who enjoys classical music, there is a wonderful choice of commercial free stations worldwide. I own (or have owned) a number of internet radios;a Slim Devices Squeezebox(!), a Roku Soundbridge R1000, a Revo Pico portable, a Receiva AE and a Sangean WFR-20, but the new Sangean WFR-20 is almost the best of the bunch (I will explain why it is not unequivocally the best in a minute!).
The Sangean WFR-1 is beautifully finished with a polished wooden case, an array of controls on the front panel, including on/off, volume and equalizer (tone control). They are not particularly intuitive but better than the single knob on the WFR-20. There is also a substantial and full function remote control, resembling that of the Roku, rather than the credit-card sized devices that come with Pico and the WFR-20. The amber display is larger than those found on any other set but the Roku (more about this later).
Set-up was very easy (I use an ethernet wired connection to my router but it works with my wi-fi network) and it was playing within a few minutes of unpacking. There is also an FM tuner with a separate antenna. Sound is excellent and far superior to any of the other sets I have owned except Roku, which is almost as good. For this unit, Sangean has gone to Frontier Silicon rather than to Receiva for their streams. Nevertheless, there is an abundance of stations, including Real format so I can get all the BBC channels (a big negative with Roku). There is little delay in receiving streams after switching on and Frontier has a good website where you can set up favorites and add new stations. Playing stored music from my computer via Windows Media Player has been easy and more consistent than with the WFR-20 or AE.
Now for the downside. Despite a larger display that claims to offer four lines of text, there is no control for format (as Roku provides) or for brightness (which the WFR-20 offers). Most frustrating is that Frontier do not stream program information with the station! There is plenty of room for this on the display and such information on content is invaluable because some stations do not provide this audibly; the WFR-20 does this well because it uses the Receiva streams but it would require reprogramming of software by Frontier to have this on the WFR-1. Frontier tell me it is being discussed but they have no plans for implementation! Surprisingly, Sangean, although the 800lb gorilla here, do not seem inclined to pressure Frontier. I have had several conversations with the amiable Selwyn, whom you reach quite easily when you call up technical support at Sangean, and he agrees totally with me and suggests that I contact Frontier (which I did) or write a review to make this point - which I am doing!
So in summary, this is an excellent product with great acoustic performance but marred by small, but irritating, shortcomings in the display. As a result, I gave it 3 stars rather than 5.

(More customer reviews)I had never heard of Sangean and honestly was a bit skeptical buying this. I can't speak to the long term, but I can speak to my initial impression after getting it, setting it up, and listening for a few hours / comparing.
Good:
Appearance - It has a very sturdy and eye appealing look. The solid wood is very nice (though not as nice as Tivoli). It has a very classic look to it, but is clearly modern also.
Has 2 alarms, so you can set one for weekdays and one for weekends, etc. Also has a battery backup. (I don't know why any alarm clock wouldn't have this? but many don't)
Radio reception is excellent. I get lots of stations I don't get in my car and it comes through very clean.
Auto sets time/date from radio stations? Not sure how it did it, but it did and that was nice.
Very clear display - easy to read the time, date, radio station/song info from across the room. Dimmer allows multiple brightness settings including off (so if anyone has complained that the display is too bright obviously didn't notice this feature).
Remote - Seems to have good coverage from anywhere in my room. Has functions for everything I could need.. radio, ipod, dimmer, even can snooze by remote.
Sound quality of speakers - Those iHome and other table radio/alarms do not compare. Significantly better. Is it Tivoli or Bose equivalent? I think it's probably just slightly below those systems, but for 1/4 to 1/5 the price.... it's not that much below them. Bose never impressed me anyway. I'd have to do a side by side to tell for sure if it's any better. People like to hype up various table radios, but lets all be serious. You aren't going to get sound from something with a 3 inch speaker that rivals a full stereo not matter how nice it looks or how much they spend on marketing. If so, why would Bose also sell full stereo systems?
Price! - all the previous stuff leads to this. I paid $99 bucks and got every possible option I would ever want from a great sounding, great looking table radio/alarm. Very few offer all of the full options of this one with the sound quality and those that do cost many times the price. Don't be dumb and pay $400+ for a table radio/alarm clock.. please.Bad:
The volume knob seems oddly sensitive and will jump around a bit, but it gets you there and you can always use the remote which is pretty convenient too.
Slightly confusing setup. It is not particularly intuitive and the instructions seems to be a bit off from how it really works so if you are extremely un-tech savvy you might have some confusion setting it up. I got mine setup with alarms, radio presets, timing, etc in very short time.Conclusion:
Very glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone else considering the tivoli, bose, cambridge, etc group of radios that feel that several hundred dollars is kind of crazy to spend on something like this. I'll update in the long run on reliability.

Sangean WR-2 Digital AM/FM Tabletop Radio, White Review

(More customer reviews)This is a very appealing clock radio with digital readout that gives you name of song, artist, and other information as you listen. The mono aural speaker is warm and full. The radio is attractive, solid and well-built, evincing nothing cheap or plastic-laden. The AM is very good. Most FM stations come in strong. But hard-to-get FM stations like 89.3 from Pasadena (I live 40 miles away in Torrance) requires that I move the FM antenna, but this is not a big deal, just a nitpick.
Most listeners will love the WR-2. But if you're a radio buff like I am and enjoy the outstanding FM reception of the Grundig S350, the Kaito 1101 and 1103 models (called Degen in China), then I'm afraid the WR-2 will disappoint. To be fair to the WR-2, the more expensive Bose radio suffers the same problem of mediocre FM reception.
Another important point: Because this radio has a remote control, it works great in your computer office. You can keep the WR-2 six feet or so away from your computer and avoid interference as you toggle stations and volume with your remote.
Post Script: Make sure to turn on the external antenna switch in the back of the Sangean. It improves reception by tenfold.
Update: I bought a second WR-2 (in black) three years after the first and get excellent FM reception so apparently the radio has improved in newer models. New rating: 5 stars.

Boasting an acoustically balanced wooden enclosure and an enhanced front-firing 3-inch speaker, the Sangean WR-2 tabletop radio offers the sound and features of a living room system in a cabinet that fits conveniently in a bedroom, kitchen, or garage. Any discussion of the WR-2 begins with its white wooden housing, which is rich in both appearance and tone. A final bonus stems from the power backup function, which plays the radio for six minutes during a power failure (ideal for emergencies) and retains the memory preset and clock values for about an hour. The WR-2 measures roughly 9.5 by 4.5 by 6 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 5.5 pounds.
