For the same dollar amount, buy the car kit, (I bought a 2nd, and will buy a third). The cradle on the car kit sits in a flat surface just as well as the home unit. (More customer reviews)This Sony portable cassette tape player is well designed and ruggedly constructed. Unfortunately, its sound quality leaves a great deal to be desired. First of all, I was unhappy with the headphones which delivered a somewhat thin and 'tinny' reproduction of the music I sampled over the three weeks I tested this walkman (which I finally returned for credit). Also, at relatively low volumes I was surprised to encounter unacceptable levels of distortion during playback. I recently purchased a Sony Psych CD Walkman model D-EJ360 which, by comparison, is so far superior in its sound quality to the Sony WM-FS222 S2 Sports Cassette Walkman under review that it became literally impossible for me to listen to the tape player without feeling irritated and aggrieved (thus the necessity to return it!). Two other disappointing features of this S2 product bear mentioning. The included "belt clip" is NOT a rigid plastic fixture of the player case itself but rather an addition to the flexible strap used for holding the walkman by hand. It therefore does not provide a secure attachment for vigorous walking or running. And there is no auto-reverse functionality. Which seems a significant lack given the price of the item. Finally, having submitted a meticulously documented rebate claim for a Sony t-shirt upon receiving this walkman, I was notified that I was ineligible for my gift as I had failed to provide the requisite UPC code and sales receipt. A sad ending to a thoroughly frustrating experience with a company I have come to expect so much more from.

CDs are wonderful, but most people still have boxes of cassettes full of great music, much of it not out--or not owned--on CD. Sony's WM-FS222 S2 Sports Walkman stereo cassette player lets you relive your cassette music when on the go. Its rugged, ergonomic S2 Sports design includes durability, controls placed for easy access, high style, and drift-free, digitally synthesized FM stereo--as well as wideband AM, TV (channels 2 to 13), and weather band (channels 1 to 7) reception.
An action grip with reflective cushion provides comfort and safety, while an included belt clip lets you wear the Walkman, freeing hands for other activities. The player's water-resistant seals help keep out water, moisture, and dirt, and a battery-level indicator on the unit's LCD lets you know when you're running low.
The player's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) maintains an even volume level, guarding against unintended level increases and evening the output of musical passages that vary widely in level. Mega Bass produces deep, rich bass tones. Finally, an anti-rolling mechanism maintains stable tape speed to minimize music-distorting "wow and flutter" while the player is in motion.

Peripheral HDRT HD Radio Tuner Add-on for PXAMG Interface (PXAMG required) Review

This product is flashy in the box, but it has several glitches that keep it from truly shining.
1 (A+)Easy installation with an intuitive wiring layout. They include the wiring harness for both Acura and Honda makes, and a return box so that you can easily recycle the wiring harness you don't use. Yeah for green thumbs!
2 (C)This unit requires that you have a pass through device such as their unit, the Peripheral PXAMG Universal iPod Adapter. The unit would be MUCH better as an ALL-IN-ONE Aux/Ipod/HD radio input. Making room for both units in your car is somewhat difficult at times. In fact I would go one better and incorporate a switch for the antenna input so that you can use your car antenna with both the OEM radio tuner, or the HD tuner (with this device you un-hook from the OEM radio making all antenna inputs go through the HD tuner). I will explain in depth shortly.
3 (D)The printed instructions are INACCURATE/INCOMPLETE. upon completing install I attempted to use the unit and thought for certain that it was broken. Fiddling with my radio I stumbled upon the correct manner to start the HD tuner/Aux input selector. A couple times practicing it and now I find it easy. For my car the correct method is to change from sat/cd input to FM/AM, then change back to sat/cd; following this you must (within 4 seconds) press the seek forward/backward button and hold it for 5 seconds. This causes the menu of options to start scrolling wildly, listing AUX/SAT/IPOD/HD Radio. I have to release and then tap the arrow button to the input I want, release for 4 secs and viola the input starts.
4 (D-)The Sound Quality is on par with satellite radio, meaning excellent, especially when you are listening to HD channels that have a strong signal. However there are some catches to this statement. It seems the radio tunes to the local standard FM channel first, then if HD is present on the same frequency it switches over to HD. This can cause a slight stutter in audio with a noticeable change in quality of sound. PLUS there is a loss in synch of audio as most HD stations aren't in perfect synch with their analog output. If your radio is having problems tracking the HD signal then there is an annoying switch back and forth from standard FM to FM-HD. It appears in the form of constant stuttering in audio with a noticeable upgrade/downgrade in sound quality. The loss in audio synch as mentioned before is HIGHLY noticeable and may have to do with how the tuner selects which signal it will track. Strangely you may have a good signal with the HD tuner, but if the FM tuner sees a significantly stronger signal the unit will still swap back and forth. I find this issue UNBEARABLE and have gone the effort of installing a pass-through with switch for the antenna cable so that I can use the built in FM tuner rather than the HD tuner for certain stations that show this problem due to reception in my area. I have this issue with 2 of 6 radio stations I listen to in my area.
5 (C-)When switching to the HD tuner the display on my radio still reads that it is on XM satellite input. I can deal with that except that unless I am paying attention to how many times I have selected the input I won't know if I am on AM-HD or FM-HD. It can be a little distracting trying to select the channel while driving. Also, about 1 in 6 or 7 times when selecting the HD tuner the front panel control inputs from my radio do not get accepted by the HD tuner and I am forced to change to standard FM tuner and back to get the controls to respond. Annoying, but livable.
6 (A-)AUX input (I don't have an IPOD so I can't review that side), the unit (Peripheral PXAMG Universal iPod Adapter) that is required to make the HDRT work will ONLY allow you to have 2 of the 3 possible inputs at a time. Your options are: HDRT, AUX (mini stereo 3/8inch plus R/L RCA type), and IPOD. This is livable, but they should have been able to combine all the inputs into a single cable, or used a switch, or some other ingenuity.
7 (A+)AUX input sound quality is superb, if a little quiet. I had to turn up my MP3 player to be able to hear it well on the radio.

Videonow Chatnow FM Radio Earpiece Review

(More customer reviews)You don't have to have a chat now to use the FM radio. But the whole thing is kind of fuzzy and there is no way to tell what radio station you are on unless you wait for the person to say what radio it is.
The piece works well with the chat now communicators but it makes your ear feel and sometimes you hear funny afterwards for about three minutes.

Belkin F8Z498 Tunecast Auto Live FM Transmitter and Charger for iPod/iPhone Review

(More customer reviews)The Belkin Tunecast Auto Live is different from other FM Transmitters on the market because, through a special iPhone app, it can use GPS to determine the best frequency for you to use. After testing this transmitter with the app on my iPhone 3GS, I have the following opinions:
-You can only use the GPS function when the App is open, which means you can't run other apps when using the Belkin app. So if you're listening to Pandora when you suddenly need to change the frequency, you'll have to close Pandora in order to open the Belkin app. (EDIT: Apple's iOS 4 now allows for multi-tasking, so this particular point of mine is no longer valid, although you still have to go through the hassle of changing apps to change a frequency)
-The GPS function is useless. It kept telling me to use a particular frequency which did not work well. I could press the button on the iPhone app to cycle through frequencies, but the same useless frequencies would keep repeating.
-The Clearscan function (the button on the transmitter itself) is also useless, for pretty much the same reasons as above.
-Try to use the app to change the frequency of the Belkin transmitter while in rush-hour traffic. Yup, another driving distraction. (Memo to Belkin's lawyers: sooner or later, you'll need a warning in the manual along the lines of "do not use the app while driving")
-If I listened to Heavy Metal or loud Hip-Hop music, I might be ok with the sound quality from this transmitter. But since I listen to softer music, I find the constant background hissing and static to be very very annoying.
-I do LIKE the display though, the amber color is very pleasing and is easily visible both day and night. (hey, I'm trying hard to find some positives too!)
Overall, I don't recommend this transmitter. In fact, I've gone through many of the different transmitters from the different brands and the only one that worked perfectly and which I recommend is Griffin's iTrip. The reason is that the Griffins all have a hidden feature called "International" mode which allow the use of the 87.7 and 87.9 frequencies, as they are open frequencies in the United States (meaning there isn't a single U.S. radio station on those frequencies). But only the Griffins can use those frequencies, all other transmitters (including this very Belkin model) can go as low as 88.1 only. The Griffins also have a feature to boost transmitting power by setting the output to Mono, rather than the default Stereo which seems to produce a weaker signal.
