iSymphony V1BLUE Bluetooth Stereo System with Wireless Universal Dock for iPod (Black) Review

iSymphony V1BLUE Bluetooth Stereo System with Wireless Universal Dock for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Received this as a gift. Seems to have many neat and user friendly gadgets. The synching of the ipod to the main unit via blue-tooth technology is neat, but frankly not needed as you still need power cords, etc for each unit.
What I discovered as I turned it on is the sound was TERRIBLE. On the packaging it states 200watts, however, the amp pushes 45 watts max. Oh and... the speakers are two 1/2 inch tweeters, 2 1 and 1/2 inch mids and a non-existant sub.
Having neat packaging, blue-tooth capabilities and a head unit that magically slides to the right so you can load a CD is great but when the sound quality is like any other made-in-china gadget, I must say pass. Don't make the mistake of buying this piece of garbage.

GenevaSound All-in-One Stereo for CD, iPod, Radio, iPhone, Line-in (Xtra Large-White) Review

GenevaSound All-in-One Stereo for CD, iPod, Radio, iPhone, Line-in (Xtra Large-White)
Average Reviews:

I have bought many products through Amazon and yet this is the first time I have felt the urge to leave a review.
If you are looking for natural studio reference quality sound reproduction with style and simplicity, you have now found it.
True stereo sound from one beautifully designed enclosure and no wires!
One remote control handles all functions.
This unit plays CDs, I-Pods and I-Phones and will accept connection to all other manner of inputs. The only drawback is that the built in FM radio antenna does not receive strong stereo signals but why bother when you can play any world radio station through an I-Phone with a wi-fi connection and charge your phone at the same time. I have not switched on my expensive high-end music system since buying the Genevasound. The speaker enclosures are a wonder to hear and also look great.
Very highly recommended.

Jensen JiMS-125 Universal Docking Digital Music System for iPod (Black) Review

Jensen JiMS-125 Universal Docking Digital Music System for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Problem #1: if the unit is set to play your iPod, the alarm will not function. That is, if you set the alarm, then fall asleep with your iPod playing, the alarm will not go off. The unit function switch must be set to "off" for the alarm to sound! And yes I double-checked the instructions to ensure I'm operating it correctly. For this reason alone it is useless as an alarm clock.
Problem #2: The iPod only charges when docked if the unit function switch is set to "iPod" i.e. if you want your iPod to charge while you listen to the radio, you can't do it. Also unacceptable
Problem #3: I have an iPod Touch, and it is really hard to get in the dock--worried I'm going to damage my iPod getting it into the dock.
Other problems include that the display is not dimmable and is super bright.
If by chance someone else owns this unit and I'm in error in any of the above please post and let me know!

Yamaha Natural Sound Micro Home Theater Receiver Sound System with Integrated iPod Docking Station, High Quality CD Player, USB Port for Flash Drive & All Weather Indoor / Outdoor Speakers (Speakers are White) 50ft 16 AWG Speaker Wire Included Review

Yamaha Natural Sound Micro Home Theater Receiver Sound System with Integrated iPod Docking Station, High Quality CD Player, USB Port for Flash Drive and All Weather Indoor / Outdoor Speakers (Speakers are White) 50ft 16 AWG Speaker Wire Included
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a solution for my shore house deck and found this Yahmaha home theater packaged with outdoor speakers. The unit appears to be built solid and the speakers appear to be of good quality.
Likes:
1. Easy to plug iPod in on top
2. Quality of sound is good
3. Size of device is small
Dislikes:
1. Contols for the radio and other featues only available via the remote
2. Remote distance is limited, I was hoping to have the unit inside the house near a window to the deck and control things via remote anywhere on the deck. Turns out I need to be about 5' or less from the window to work
3. volume is fairly low, need to turn the volume up to around 35 to play light level on the deck. Unit goes up to 60 and is fairly loud but might be a stretch for a large party
Overall good unit, I'm happy with it but wish the price was a little lower.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Portable Stereo Speakers for ipod Review

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Portable Stereo Speakers for ipod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In general I think the Logitech Pure-Fi Express is a good product. It's pleasing looking, fairly compact and easy to use. It comes with a bunch of iPod docking adapters which allows you to use a number of models in it. The remote feature is nice to have but, since I use it in my office I prefer to keep it at arms length. Actually, the remote stopped working the other day - which is a bit disappointing. As for the sound, don't expect to be "moved". It has absolutely no bottom end (= bass). If you are looking for high quality, room filling sound I suggest looking at a higher price point. If you just want to be able to listen to your iPod without wearing headphones - this'll do just fine.

Sylvania Dock and Clock Radio PLL Dual Alarm for iPod and iPhone Review

Sylvania Dock and Clock Radio PLL Dual Alarm for iPod and iPhone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this docking station thinking I would get an inexpensive, but functional docking station for my iTouch. I was largely wrong on both accounts. Although it was cheap, it was money wasted and I've since purchased a new Sony Dreammachine to replace the Synvania dock and clock. Why? Several reasons. First, if you want the alarm to work, you need the backlight lit. That doesn't sound like a problem until you see the backlight. Even at it's lowest setting, I'm pretty sure planes could navigate off it it. It is so bright, it lights up a 30 foot hallwall into my room when the door is open. And that's on the "dim" setting. Don't even get me started with the "bright" setting. If you turn off the light, the alarm doesn't work. The other significant problem is that it doesn't recharge my iTouch. It did, for about 3 months, but then it stopped and never restarted. So I can listen to music, but I can't recharge. All in all, this docking station was a complete waste of money.

I bought this to use with my older Tivoli radio that I purchased a few years ago. My daughter needed a dock to play her music she had accumulated on her itouch and after a conversation with the guys at Cambridge audio I decided to pull the trigger.
It has worked without a problem and has a handy remote that has proved very uselfull for her to change selections from anywhere in her room.
I'm a huge fan of the Tivoli company and have been impressed with the sound from such a small bookshelf system.

Acoustic Research Portable iPod/iPhone Docking System Review

Acoustic Research Portable iPod/iPhone Docking System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'll be honest...I hate buying stuff online sometimes. I hate going off reviews and depending on what other people's experiences were or media hype that goes along with every product under the sun, especially when it comes to audio equipment. Everything has to be taken with a grain of salt.
Now, I am neither an audio snob nor am I the person that doesn't care what my music sounds like just as long as I have some. I've learned that everything depends on the environment a particular person is situated in...whether it be some cavernous mansion or a rinky dink studio apartment. For me, I wanted something for my bedroom, not necessarily portable, but something with quality that thumped when needed to, and sparkled when listening to acoustic tracks without compromising performance. This unit surprised me. While I've gone to Best Buy, Fry's, Radio Shack, among other places to test ipod docks, on a whim, and against my better judgement, I decided on this dock. Don't ask me why. After all, I just had a negative review that had to do with, apparently, a bad product. I just figured Acoustic Research had done it's research and came up with something good. And that they have.
The little details are great: clock that you can adjust the brightness of (something I didn't really care about), sleep function, charging capabilities, internal rechargeable battery for taking the unit on the go (haven't tried this feature out yet), and the motorized pop-out docking mechanism. But it's the sound that surprised me. I was fully prepared to return this to Fry's to wait for the Altec-Lansing boombox to be available. I will not be doing that, since this thing's a keeper. The sound is great; I listen to a wide spectrum of music: house, drum n bass, rock, reggae, salsa, R&B, hip-hop, and while I haven't tried every genre just yet, I have yet to find something that will not sound good on this. Bass bumps with 2Pac and Basement Jaxx, guitars sparkle with Jack Johnson, and no distortion or muddiness when listening to some Lenny Kravitz. All in all, this speaker dock surprisingly satisfies everything I was looking for...and I'm the most indecisive person on the planet. Definitely recommended.

iLive Portable Music System/Boom Box with Docking Station and Recharger for iPod (Black) Review

iLive Portable Music System/Boom Box with Docking Station and Recharger for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I received the item, I unpacked it & installed the batteries. I connected my daughter's iPod and the sound quality was good. There could have been more volume, but it was ok. There wasn't any bass or treble adjustments on this. I liked how the iPod songs could be forwarded & skipped via the buttons on the dock itself. I carefully repacked it & wrapped it for a Christmas gift. When my daughter opened it, she liked it. But when she tried to listen to the radio, it was all static. The next day, the radio portion would work, and then quit again. So, I ended up returning it to the store where I bought it. This was a very bacic, no-frills type of unit, but in fairness, the price was very low as well. If the unit worked as designed, we would have kept it.

Timex T172G Dual Alarm Clock with AM/FM Radio and iPod Dock (Silver) Review

Timex T172G Dual Alarm Clock with AM/FM Radio and iPod Dock (Silver)
Average Reviews:

I got this clock radio to work with my iPhone. It does work, but it prompts to put the phone in Airplane mode while on the dock because you can not take phone calls through the speakers of the radio.
Alarms - Not only does the clock radio have 2 alarms you can set, but it also works with alarms set on the iPhone itself.
I also like the fact you can dim the lighted display with a push of the snooze button. So if you don't like the grow from the clock you can dim it or turn it off completely.

Wake up in style with this iPod-friendly alarm clock from Timex. With a rounded, modern look and bright blue display, the Ti72 will make sure you and a companion get to work on time thanks to a dual alarm. Wake to iPod, AM/FM radio, or buzzer, and enjoy features like Automatic Alarm Reset, which sets you up for the next day with a single touch. A line-in jack lets you listen to other devices through the speaker system, and the new Bedtime Beats feature gives you built-in music designed to make you drift off with ease.

Play and Charge Your iPod The Ti72 plays and charges docking iPod models, so you can enjoy your music (along with the alarm features), and when you're ready to hit the road, your iPod will be too.
Wake to iPod, AM/FM Radio, or Buzzer Wake to your favorite morning radio program, or pick your favorite tunes on a docked iPod. Of course, for some that's not enough, so you can still bring out the heavy artillery with a buzzer alarm.
The display features a dimmer for adjusting the brightness to your liking, and standard alarm features are also included, like the ever-important snooze, for a little more precious sleep.
Dual Alarm This allows you to set separate wake times, so if your companion has to go to work earlier, it's not up to them to reset the alarm.
The Ti72 also allows you to set separate alarm sources, so one party can use the iPod and the other can go with the radio/buzzer, depending on preference.
Automatic Alarm Reset The Alarm Reset function turns off the alarm, then automatically resets it for the next day at the same time. Take away the worry of remembering to set the alarm each evening.
Battery Backup The Ti72's battery backup maintains your clock and alarm settings in case of power failure, so you don't end up late.
Bedtime Beats The Ti72 features built-in Bedtime Beats music--soothing classical, jazz and new age sounds that promote deep, restful sleep. Based on a sleep study conducted at Case Western Reserve University, Bedtime Beats comprises soothing music that cycles at 60-80 beats per minute, which was shown to help people fall asleep and stay asleep longer.
Auxiliary Input The 3.5mm line input lets you connect external audio devices, such as MP3 players, for an easy amplification solution.
Optional Remote Add the optional iRTi72B remote for control over functions such as power on/off, pause, forward/reverse track, snooze/dimmer, and volume on the unit.

I received my iLive speaker system today. The audio quality is very good, and it does work with and charge my iPhone as advertised. HOWEVER, be aware that it does NOT have an AM/FM radio (as advertised in the Product Overview). You can only wake to an iPod/iPhone or a buzzer alarm. I hope that Amazon will clarify this in the Overview from now on. It was a disappointment to me since I often wake to radio... but as a good-quality speaker set and an iPhone charger it will be useful.

Skullcandy S7PIBN-CZ Pipe Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Chrome) Review

Skullcandy S7PIBN-CZ Pipe Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone (Chrome)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the best sounding and looking portable speakers with an iPod dock.
1. Style
- Bought these in Chrome... but all of them are VERY sleek and VERY stylish. The cylindrical tube shape does need a bit of getting used to, and the small size is a major plus for those on the go. The nifty remote control really tops it all off- which I might add: though stated on the manual that the remote is only effective up to about 10ft, I have successfully gotten them to work at about 30-35ft away.... and now the best part...
... 2. Sound!
These are one of the BEST sounding portable speakers availible, up there with the LG MSP-100 folding speakers, which is my personal favorite. Both speaker sets are VERY loud while retaining clarity, but the Skullcandy Pipes do have a bit more on the low end/bass tones.
Running either on the AC wall adapter or AAA battery option, these babies pump out a whopping 5.6 Watts max! (Pretty Good considering their size, the LG MSP-100's only pumped out 4 Watts.)
These DO tend to distort at high volumes, but it's mainly only the low's that cause it. The Mids and Highs are still somewhat clear, but the distortion of the Lows really just ruins the music at those volumes.
AUDIOPHILE REVIEW:
Now, these do have weak lows and decent mids and decent highs.
*****These tested to have a freq. range of: 50hz-20khz.*****
The sound is slightly better when plugged into the wall.
As expected, the sound is only decent while on battery power.
3. Overall Opinion
These are GREAT speakers for those wanting to replace that boombox/radio sitting on their desk at home or work, and for those who want to share their music while on the go- at a picnic, or just hanging out at a party on the beach! These speakers do pack quite a surprising punch despite thier decievingly small size. The $69.99 price tag Target and some other retailers give these DOES seem a bit high, but the lower prices seen on eBay and Amazon do make a BIT more sense though sometimes a bit too low. $45-$55 seems a bit more appropriate.
BOTTOM LINE: BUY THEM! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini Docking Speaker for iPod Review

Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Mini Docking Speaker for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been looking forward to this product since its introduction more than a month ago. I loved the original Zeppelin, but was excited about the smaller form factor and a USB digital connection in the Zeppelin Mini. Call me naive, I was actually hoping that the sound quality would be quite comparable to that of the original Zeppelin. As the B&W's website says:
"With Zeppelin Mini, you get everything you love about Zeppelin - advanced acoustic technology, intelligent design, elegant connectivity - in a streamlined, compact sound dock package that's perfect for desktops and bedside tables. "
But I was let down; the two speakers produce completely different sound. Pop music (I tried out Rhianna and Britney Spears) sounded okay due to the typically louder treble and bass in the recording, although when played louder it sounded clearly distorted and hollow; classical symphonies (I tried out Brahms' Symphony #4 and Shostakovich's Cello Concerto #1) sounded disappointing - the entire bass section cannot be heard until the volume is cranked up really high!; classical solo and chamber music (I played Vivaldi's Four Season - Winter, 2.Largo) turned out to be surprisingly really good and in my opinion the best genre for this speaker. After turning on Bass enhancer on my iPod EQ setting (unlike the original Z, the Mini does not have an external bass/treble control), the bass can be heard more but is too obviously distorted - cracking sound can be heard at times.
The bass sounded more full when positioned closer to me. B&W claims that the introduction of a flowport (absent in the original Zeppelin) is designed to amplify the bass; I found the outcome to be nothing like that of the original Zeppelin. I also expect the bass to be thicker if the speaker is placed against a wall or a corner (instead of in the middle of a table at the Apple store)
With the addition of USB connectivity, I was originally very excited about the idea of directly syncing my iPod to iTunes, controlling iTunes using a remote, and most importantly, the capability of bypassing analog signal processing on a computer to the speaker. However, given the significantly compromised quality of sound (esp. lack of bass), the idea of producing better quality analog signal that would only be greatly sacrificed in bass production seems meaningless.
Nevertheless, I was impressed with the design of the Mini. The speaker is much smaller than I'd envisioned based on the gallery (and after checking out the sound quality was I wished it was bigger). The Mini is light but feels very solid when carried around. The design is much more classy than other iPod speakers: the chrome bowl mirror matches the back of the original iPod (if you still own one); when firmly attached to the docking arm, it can be elegantly turned 90 degrees for cover flow (isn't that the only reason to buy an iPod touch/iPhone?); controlling the iPod has never been easier with the inventive protruded docking arm design (same as the original Z). Most impressive to me, the enclosure of black cloth over the speaker (as opposed to the colder, more industrial wire mesh used in Bose and other iPod speakers) stands out among the crowd with exquisiteness.
If I were to choose a small iPod speaker based on what looks best for my apartment, I would definitely go with the Mini. As for sound quality, it sounded very impressive for classical chamber music, good enough for pop, but definitely not satisfying for classical symphonies. However, if you are certain that any larger speaker (e.g. the original Z) cannot be considered, it is quite a good choice. (And at this price I would choose it over Bose any day - there, I said it).
